Thanks for these good tips! I love wearing blazers. Unfortunately, I don't get to wear them often because I live in the hot desert and my casual (homemaker) lifestyle does not lend itself much to wearing them.

I would feel "duped" if I paid full price for the real thing. I'll take a nice dupe any day.

No way will I ever spend $500 and up for a jacket/blazer, shoes, handbags, etc. Could I? Yes. But, I won’t. Quince is high end enough for me. I don’t really care if I’m curtailing the creative process of designers.

That hasn’t always been the case and so now I try to be more conscientious when making my purchases . Thanks for another great video . 😊🏝

I remember the "replica" bags that you used to see on YT, that had the logos, a certificate and came boxed like the real brand, but clearly stated it was a replica bag. Very shady handbag industry. I have a hard time with some of the luxury brands being worth it and some actually making or finishing the bags in Europe, but using leather from China that lower end bags use. It would need to be something really special. I do have an expensive black leather jacket also, but it fits perfectly and looks beautiful and I have had it 15 years❤

I’m sorry but designer items are not the quality they used to be. There have been so many issues with the quality of Chanel bags etc. Not worth it anymore. I do love the AllSAINTS leather jackets though and own four of them.

I don’t consider anything from Quince fast fashion. I think their quality is excellent.

Hey Kate. How is winter this year? Fast fashion is definitely not me again. Omg, I am a minimally classic gal and believe in capsule wardrobes. I will take that dupe though lol

I have bought luxury and/or designer items, but never knowingly a dupe as far as I can remember. My preference is to support original creativity and design at the price point I want to spend. I have lowered this price point for clothes recently. My body chemistry can affect certain dyes, and this happened with a very expensive and beloved item. I have several bags that I’ve bought at eye watering prices from a historic house. I raised my price point in this area because I was tired of buying designer small leather goods that weren’t always made of quality materials, like plastic parts, that I couldn’t maintain because it wasn’t made with that in mind. Now I’m buying leather goods, either new or second hand, from a house that will maintain them for life and makes them with that in mind. Obviously this is truly sustainable. I have had no quality issues with them, and the workmanship and materials truly are a joy. As far as cost, I believe they train their craftspeople, who for the leather goods work directly for them, for a year before they make a bag to sell IIRC. They invest in beautiful places for them to work, they don’t have quotas or deadlines. It’s really a company I might like to work for myself. It’s not just about the cost of the leather and thread and hardware, all of which are stellar, but this overall investment in people and places that explains the cost of the bag.

Interesting topic! I do not save up to purchase designer items. To me, it is not worth it. I am strategic about my purchases and will spend more on items I expect to have longer, such as footwear, denim, and outerwear. I care more about the quality and fit than the name brand. I spend less on trendier items and do not have a problem with buying dupes for these items.

There are some things that I’ll pay the higher price to get. But I don’t really buy many dupes. Example, I have a coach bag that looks similar to a Chanel boy bag, but it’s obvious it’s not Chanel. I will pay $200 for a purse, I will not pay $5200 for something that’s just meant to hold my stuff. On the other hand, I’ll buy the AllSaints jacket, not the dupe. Most of the things I have that are luxury, I bought them second hand. I just can’t justify spending a crazy amount of money for one item. As a side note, I haven’t bought fast fashion in several years.

It has been shown that the quality and costs associated with the creation of the luxury brands have greatly decreased. A multi thousand dollar bag costs them less than $500 and the quality has become very poor. I would hate to save for over a year or more for a over priced poor quality item just because it is designer.

Just look at what Princess Diana wore! She wore brights, florals and plaids and NEVER looked cheap or poor. Quality stands out.

I’ve been adding a lot of color to my wardrobe in the past few years because I realized how much joy it brings me. It was helpful to learn my color season since it gave me a starting place for colors that actually compliment me.

Limiting my color choices is important to me for my capsule

Turning 61 soon and I’m becoming more of trying new colors. Before I retired, my closet was full of black; different shades of gray; blues; and brown; tons of white and black shirts and tops. That’s it but now I’m adding color, even if it’s a floral. Decided to watch RUclips in January 2020. I’ve learned a lot and I’ve learned how to incorporate color more. This was a very good vlog. ✨🌼

I love color. My colors are spring which are vibrant shades and I love wearing them. A few years ago the neutral trend was everywhere. I tried it and just hated it. Really as you said fiber content, cut, and quality of construction are everything. Another big thing is finding your colors as each of us has different skin shades, hair and eyes so wearing those best colors for our unique coloring is the biggest thing to looking high end.

Hey my friend! I know when I get in to a rut i will wear a lot of gray and olive green. I love color, jewel colors look good on me, but I always feel like a beacon when I wear them so I steer clear, lol.

I’m a girl that loves color, I always have. I like bright clear colors. My struggle has been finding like minded people. Typically when I’m watching fashion videos I look at the shapes & styles people put together and ignoring the neutrals they are wearing. Although I’m a sucker for ivory sweaters. I have a lot of them. Overall, my closet looks to be a bit of a rainbow. 😁❤️

I have found some boxes of things I was going to get rid of recently and pulled a few of them back out. In reality getting rid of things that are nice because you are not wearing them this year might be worse for sustainability because you already have it.....put it away and revisit it next year. My tastes change and I wear things in a different way. And face it trends change faster than the weather. It all comes back around. I never jumped on the capsule minimal weardrobe "trend" because I love variety and occasions in my life happen and is so nice to be able to pull out the perfect thing that has not been worn in a long time. All that said I live timeless things so much of what I have works for years.
